The Biomechanics of Beauty
The study is being conducted by David M.G. Lewis, Anna Scarlett, and Mitch Forrest from Murdoch University and the purpose of this research is to examine human standards of attractiveness. You are free to contact the investigator at email@example.com to discuss the study. You must be at least 18 years old to participate.
You are invited to participate as a model and this will take approximately one hour of your time. You will watch a series of point light display videos and be asked to comment on how attractive and feminine/masculine you perceive the display to be. You will be asked to answer a questionnaire collecting demographic information as well as asking you about your relationship history, feelings of attractiveness and sexual history.
If you are a participant recruited from Murdoch University, you will receive 1 hour of class credit. If you are recruited from a social networking site such as Facebook, you will not be compensated but you are still warmly invited to participate.
Risks/Benefits/Confidentiality of Data
The risks of participating in this study are minimal. The questionnaire does not focus on any specific personal events or issues, and you may decline to answer some, any, or all questions. The risks of participating do not differ from those that you would typically encounter in daily life. There will be no costs for participating. There will be no costs for participating. Identifying information will be stripped from the final dataset. Data will be used for research purposes, including, but not limited to, dissemination at research conferences and peer-reviewed journals, as well utilization in future research by the current researchers and potential collaborators. No identifying information will be collected from you as part of the survey.
There will be no direct participant feedback but a summary of findings will be posted to the Psychology Research Results page, which you can access at this website:
Participation or Withdrawal
Your participation in this study is voluntary. You may decline to answer and question and have the right to withdraw from participation at any time. Withdrawal will not affect your relationship with Murdoch University in any way. If you decide to withdraw, any material you have given us will be destroyed. If you do not want to participate simply let the researcher know.
